Ledge: Final Major Project

Non-Neurotypical learners have barriers to their learning in HE. Research has shown that there is a gap in the resources available as aids to help the higher achieving students who are dyslexic, specifically looking at academic texts. The additional research undertaken has shown that there is now a greater understanding of what dyslexia is. In addition, research is ongoing to develop scanning tools for primary and secondary pupils to support these students in their studies. However, there is still an issue about support for the dyslexic HE student. This study aims to determine how a new app can support the HE dyslexic student. Building on existing work, it asks “Can the Use of New Technology Enhance learning for the Non-Neurotypical Learners?” In this context non-neurotypical learners is defined as a person whose neurological development and state are atypical, whilst specifically looking at the barriers to visual learning for the dyslexic student.
