Top Typeface Designer Shares Expertise

orld renowned typeface designer, font technologist and founder of type design company Dalton Maag, Bruno Maag addressed an audience of over 100 students, staff and invited guests to University Centre St Helens last week as part of a specially commissioned guest lecture, organised by Damyon Anderson Garrity, BA (Hons) Graphic Design Module Leader.
The event which is part of the guest speaker series for the BA (Hons) Graphic Design degree programme gave students a useful insight into industry and career directions while providing excellent networking opportunities.
Bruno Maag is renowned in the typographic community. He has more than 20 years’ experience specialising in custom type design. During the lecture, attendees heard first-hand about how he started in the industry and worked his way up to gain global recognition and become the owner of his own company.
He is known globally for his work in custom type design for clients including Amazon, Nokia, BMW, Vodafone and Toyota. Bruno established Dalton Maag in 1991, an independent font foundry, which today has offices in London and Brazil. Dalton Maag designs fonts for corporate identities and logos and reflects Bruno’s own interests which lie in providing functional typographic solutions within a corporate environment. He also focuses on advancing intellectual property rights for font designers.
